Hello Volleyballers,

Thank you all for taking part in our 2023 Lakes Juniors Beach Volleyball League!  We had two and a half months of fun and competitive beach volleyball and, as always, it was cool to see the growth in skills and abilities as the season progressed.  All of our teams were competitive and I think they all had fun while learning how to be better volleyball players! 

We had a perfect day for our end of season tournament and we saw some good matches to find our top three teams in each division.  2023 was a bit of a new experience since Chloe and Leigha didn't come back in their last year of eligibility to defend their past two undefeated seasons (they had not lost a set in 2 years!) so that left the door open for a new group of girls to fight for the top spot.  And we had two teams aiming for that top spot all season - Sara and Liv (18-3) and Molly and Lily (17-2) ended up as the #1 and #2 seeds for the tournament.  Third through fifth was a tight three way battle between Erin and Mary, Emma and Anna and Mckenna and Hannah throughout the season.  At the end of the day the High School Division top three were:

1. Gold - Sara and Liv
2. Silver - Molly and Lily
3. Bronze - McKenna and Hannah

The Middle School Division was a new feature of our 2023 league and it was fun to watch the younger teams grow and learn as they figured out the beach game.  Playing on the beach really is one of the best ways to become a better volleyball player.  And you get to play in the sun, on the beach during our beautiful Wisconsin Summer!  What more could you ask for?!  The top two seeds here played each other 4 times throughout the season and were split 2-2!  And much like the HS division, we had all the teams winning some key matches or sets all season long.  Our MS Division Top Three at the tournament were:

1. Gold - Kayla and Kelsey
2. Silver - Jocelyn and Jacki
3. Bronze - Kielani and Ellie

Thank you to everyone that helped on Saturday, particularly Phill and Neil for grilling and prepping the food, and everyone that brought desserts or food to share and all the families that helped break down at the end of the day.  I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did!  I got about 389! pictures so if you would like me to send any of your team just send an email request or you can see many of them on our IG page @lakesjuniors or Facebook page.  I know many of you are well into your school tryouts and I wish you good luck - you've done the best thing you can to prepare yourself by playing beach volleyball all Summer!  I will try to make a few of the school matches to keep an eye on our Lakes Jrs Volleyball Family and see how your season is going.  Check our website, www.lakesjrs.com, for Open Gym Tuneup dates, Tryouts and registration.  I can't wait to see all of you back in our gym!
